Sydney Opera House: Sydney 1957-73 Jorn Utzon (Architecture in Detail)
Published in Paperback by Phaidon Press Inc. (August, 1995)
Authors: Philip Drew, Jorn Utzon, and Anthony Browell
Average review score:

Evedince of the unfullfilled genius of a man with vision
This book is full of excellent photographs and provides enough evidence of the unfullfilled genius of Jorn Utzon, who was prevented from completing his magnificent building concept. This was acheived by the reportings of an ignorant press, and political pressures brought about by some smalltime polititian, who wanted to exploit the costs of this wonder, and bring himself to the forefront, as the saviour of public money! It is unbeleivable today, that such treatment could be given to a man with such vision as Utzon displayed in his drawings. If costs were all that counted in buildings - we would never had seen York Minster, for example.

The people of Australia are today proud of this building, but it is only a shadow of what Utzon had in mind. Ah well, its only money!

A Translation of Jerome's Chronicon With Historical Commentary
Published in Hardcover by Edwin Mellen Press (June, 1996)
Authors: Saint Jerome and Malcolm Drew Donalson
Average review score:

A Review of "A Translation of St. Jerome's Chronicon."
This book, "A Translation of St. Jerome's Chronicon With Historical Commentary," a work for the serious scholar, contains St. Jerome's Latin continuation to Eusebius' "Chronological Canons with an Epitome of Universal History, Both Greek and Barbarian." The editor/author Malcolm Drew Donalson, who has prepared an English translation of Jerome's Latin continuation to Eusebius's Greek "Chronicon," has produced a solid, well documented study. Note that this text contains only St. Jerome's continuation from AD 327-379 and is not the complete Eusebius-Jerome "Chronicon."

Donalson has done a fine job of translating and coordinating the commentary which follows the translation of Jerome's Latin text. The bibliography and notes are useful to any scholar interested in Late Antique historiography. Helpful, too, is the reprint of the edition by R. Helm's "Eusebius' Werke 5: Die Chronik des Hieronymus," which allows the reader access to a text not otherwise readily available.

The real tour de force is Donalson's preparation of a complex text using several type faces and sizes and languages (Greek, Latin, German, etc.) as well as footnotes and a excellent bibliography. Just formatting and preparing such a complex text for publication must have been difficult. However, the end product is useful, usable, and a welcome addition to body of scholarly work on St. Jerome.

Trial by Fire (Nancy Drew Case Files, No 15)
Published in Paperback by Simon Pulse (June, 1991)
Author: Carolyn Keene
Average review score:

Good novel
In this case, Nancy must fight to keep her father's (Carson Drew) innocence after he is accused of bribery to a judge. The thing is, the judge he supposedly has bribed has been a close friend of Carson's for years! Why would he wrongly accuse his friend? But all evidence is erased when the judge is murdered, and it's up to Nancy to rediscover it!

An exciting book!
I really like this book. It's full of plots, action, and suspense, and different from the other Nancy Drew books that I've read. Nancy's father, Carson Drew, a famous lawyer, has been accused of a crime and it's up to Nancy to clear her father's name. Nancy ended up going undercover as a cabdriver. In her investigation, she found out most of her father's trusted clients and friends have turned against him. Why? Read it to find out for yourself!

Update on Crime (Nancy Drew Files, No 78)

Nancy Drew's Update on Crime review
This is one of the best books that I have ever read. I like the detective type stories so Carolyn Keene is one of my most read authors. In this book there is thrill and romance and it creates suspence so you can never put the book down until you finish it. The only part I don't like is when she finds the pen in the feed both it was unreal. People do not just leave pens around when they just planted a threatning tape. But over all it was a good book. The end is very suspenceful and you wonder how she is going to get out of the danger.

Sensational!
This still remains as one of my favorite Nancy Drew books! Sensational story and almost newsworthy! It also offers some insight on how reporting is being done on TV.

Viagra And The Quest For Potency
Published in Paperback by Markowski Intl (21 July, 1998)
Authors: Brian Drew, Brian Drew, James A. Bolton, and Mike Markowski
Average review score:

Good solid coverage of the Viagra and other helpful cures
Whether you want to regain your potency or enhance it, in almost every case, there`s a method that can work fo you-Viagra is just one of many solutions. Drew presents many answers and solutions that men everywhere (and the women who love them) can benefit from. This is great, since Viagra won`t help at least 30% of men who suffer from ED...and many can`t afford it or won`t use it. It is apparent that there is a tremendous lack of public knowledge about what`s available to cure impotency, and about the many issues connected with using these cures. Everyone wants to have sex whenever they have the urge. This timely book will be very helpful for couples seeking answers and solutions for overcoming ED. The author discusses the impact of Viagra on relationships-a topic fraught with ramifications. He also includes real life stories of other men who recelaimed their virility. Some of the areas Drew covers include: libido,,,marriages...promiscuity...a new baby boom...the mind factor...reproductive capacity...smoking and drinking..responsible and considerate use of new-found potency...Viagra and women...the female orgasm pill...alternative medicine...herbs...vitamins..food supplements..and much more. Since the media broughtr impotence OUT OF THE CLOSET people want more information on Viagra and other solutions. And the social, legal, medical, financial, and relationship implications are just beginning. There has not been this much interest in sexuality since the birth control pill.

With over 40, 000 Viagra prescriptions being written everyday in the USA alone, more questions, issues and situations will arise as Viagra and other new pills(waiting to be released) are integrated into society. This book helps pave the way for people to deal with the many issues arising from this phenomena

An excellent discussion on viagra and other methods-the best
Brian Drew`s book, Viagra and the Quest for Potency, gives the reader much more information than other books I have read on this subject. Certainly, the book gives excellent coverage on vital questions such as "How does viagra work?" What is Viagra?" "Under what conditions should it be taken?" and "How does it influence personal relationships?" The reader will find intelligent and comprehensive answers to these questions.

But Drew offers more information than that connected with Viagra. He realizes Viagra may not be suitable for some men; so, the author provides a detailed discussion of additional methods for correcting erectile dysfucntion-methods clinically supported as well as some supported by personal testimonies of numerous men-methods that have proved to be among the best for helping men restore their sexual power. For each method, VIAGRA AND THE QUEST FOR POTENCY presents a clear description including step by step procedures! for application. This additional information is a tremendous improvement over other books I have read on this subject.

In the book, Brian Drew adds his own story to the testimonies of men who have struggled with erectile dysfunction. He shares his successful and aggressive effort to restore his sexual power after he had a prostate cancer operation that destroyed his capacity for erection. Through his research and study of methods to reclaim his sexuality, he discovered methods that worked for him including viagra. He now claims a mission to share his information with other men so that they too can over come erectile dysfunction problems.

VIAGRA AND THE QUEST FOR POTENCY is a book that excites women, holds their interests, entertains and informs them. Women who read the book report a certain quality of voyeurism that urges them to "peek over the fence" and learn about the psycho-physiological dynamics of male sexuality; and they are able to use the information! to help their mates overcome erectile dysfunction when nee! ded.

Brian Drew has taken technical information and translated in language that the mass of people will understand. His writing is clear; his style is witty; and humorous without violating the seriousness of the content.

Social Workers, Therapists and Physicians will be glad to have this book in their professional library.
